What NIS2 means for food manufacturers

Europe’s tightened cybersecurity rules reach further into the food industry than many realise.

By CSAFI Policy Desk · Regulatory Affairs

The NIS2 directive widened the net of "essential" and "important" entities, and a great many food producers and distributors now fall inside it — often without knowing.

The obligations are concrete: risk-management measures, incident reporting within tight windows, and accountability that reaches the boardroom.

The practical first step is a scoping assessment: does your organisation qualify, and if so, where are the gaps against the directive’s baseline? Getting ahead of it now is far cheaper than a supervisory investigation later.
